What it’s really like to be interviewed on the radio

Last Friday I found myself heading towards Cirencester to meet Sheila LLoyd-Graham, otherwise known as Lady She, to be interviewed for her show on Corinium radio. We first met six months ago at the wedding of a mutual friend and it was there that she invited me to take part in her show, ‘Lady She and friends’, a show with an eclectic mix of people from all walks of life.

I am paranoid about arriving late and not being able to find somewhere to park so I made sure I arrived early. This also gave me some time to wander around the beautiful market town of Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds. A enjoyed a browse around the lovely boutique shops and a wander around the market before it was time to meet Sheila at The Fleece.

We had arranged to meet before the show to go over the questions she was going to ask and for Sheila to explain the format of the show. Over coffee, the other guest, Marie-Louise Flexen and I bonded and exchanged life stories. Then it was a quick trip around the corner to the studio of Corinium Radio. I must admit to feeling a bit nervous at this point but Chris Martin, the man who makes it all happen, soon put me at ease. Before I knew it we were on air and thanks to Sheila’s skill, it all seemed like friends meeting up and having a natter.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day – I met some lovely people and there was coffee and ta da, courtesy of Sheila, chocolate to take home. Surprisingly it lasted long enough for me to take a photo.

My thanks to Lady-She, Marie-Louise, Chris and of course Corinium Radio for a smashing day.

The interview can be found at www.coriniumradio.co.uk – just search for Lady She and friends on Wednesday 17th April.
